The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, agreed with the Minister of State at the German Foreign Ministry, Katja Keul, to support the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), as well as the international conference on immigration that will be organized in Tripoli next July.

Dbeibah received in his office in Tripoli, on Sunday afternoon, Keul and the German delegation accompanying her, in the presence of the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Al-Lafi, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumua, and the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht, according to the Hakomitna platform.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed international efforts to support elections in accordance with fair and impartial laws. They also touched on the international conference on combating illegal immigration and border security, scheduled to be held on July 17, with the participation of relevant countries, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.

They agreed to support the efforts of the UN mission and the international conference to combat illegal immigration, increase economic cooperation between the two countries, and expand participation in the annual German-Libyan Economic Forum in order to increase job and investment opportunities for the private and public sectors in the two countries.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Mossa Al-Koni, received on Sunday the German official at the headquarters of the Presidential Council in Tripoli. Keul reaffirmed her country’s continued support for all efforts aimed at achieving stability, reaching elections, and ending the transitional stages in Libya.

The Presidential Council said that Al-Koni welcomed Keul and her accompanying delegation, praising Germany’s efforts that seek to stabilize Libya, in reference to the Berlin one and two conferences to bring together the political parties, and stressed the need to address the current political impasse, to hold elections whose results are agreed upon by all parties, and working to support the efforts of UNSMIL to contribute to achieving stability.
