Dbeibah

Government sources have said that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah will visit Zuwara city next Sunday to reopen the Ras Ajdair border crossing with Tunisia.

The sources confirmed that traffic had returned the normal on the coastal road in front of the Mellitah Oil Complex, after the end of a protest by a number of Zuwara residents.

This announcement came after Dbeibah met Monday with a delegation from Zuwara Municipal Council and a number of members of the Council of Elders, and discussed with them the implementation of a number of water and electricity desalination projects in the city and the rest of the municipalities of the West Coast, in addition to the settlement of the salaries of workers in the Mellitah complex.

Dbeibah called for reopening the coastal road and completing the procedures for opening Ras Ajdair border, in accordance with the government’s organizational plan, and implementing the agreement signed between the Libyan and Tunisian ministers of the interior.

The opening of the Ras Jadir border crossing, which was scheduled for Monday, was postponed after protests by a number of Zuwara residents and their closure of the coastal road leading to the crossing.

The visit of an official Tunisian delegation that was expected to arrive at the crossing on Monday to supervise with its Libyan counterpart the process of completely reopening it was postponed.

The complete reopening of the crossing was previously postponed for the second time last Thursday to complete some procedures, according to what the Ministry of Interior said.
