The Libyan Presidential Council (PC) has instructed the concerned security apparatuses in the country to start thorough investigations of the suicide attack on the Foreign Ministry which took place on Tuesday morning in Tripoli.

In a statement, the PC strongly condemned the “terrorist attack” and offered condolences to the families of the victims, hailing the courage of the security personnel in their actions to thwart a bigger calamity at the Foreign Ministry headquarters.

“Such crimes don’t relate to our religion or humanitarian norms; they will only encourage Libyans to put more efforts in fighting terrorism.” The statement reads.

According to the Health Ministry in Tripoli, three people were killed and 21 were injured in the attack that was carried out by three dark-skinned men – two of whom got gunned down and the third blew himself up.

Mitiga hospital received two killed persons and Tripoli Medical Center received one, the Health Ministry said.
