The Minister of Local Governing of the Government of National Unity and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Libyan-Chinese Cooperation, Badr Al-Deen Al-Toumi, revealed during his meeting with a delegation from the Chinese National Association for Engineering Consultancy that the government was working on "three parallel tracks" to strengthen relations with China.
Al-Toumi received Monday the Chinese delegation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Local Governing in Tripoli, in the presence of the Director of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Mahmoud Al-Futaisi, and the Director General of the Housing and Utilities Projects Implementation Authority, Mahmoud Ajaj.
The Ministry said on its Facebook page that the meeting reviewed the results of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, to China, and the latest developments in the efforts to organize the Arab-Chinese Cities Forum, in addition to discussing the prospects for Libyan-Chinese cooperation in many fields.
Al-Toumi explained that work was underway on three parallel tracks: the first is to open up prospects for cooperation with the Chinese initiative (Belt and Road), the second is to reactivate projects contracted with Chinese companies, and the third is to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields with sectors in the country, in reference to strengthening Libyan-Chinese relations.
Al-Toumi pointed out the importance of exploring new projects and entering into investments in the fields of renewable energy, road networks, bridges and industrial technology, and presenting a vision as well as proposals for implementing projects submitted by the Government of National Unity in terms of importance in the field of urban planning in addition to implementing free and private zone projects.
The Ministry of Local Governing explained that the meeting discussed some executive procedures for each project track to ensure comprehensive progress in the cooperation file with China in a way that guarantees achieving the goals of the Government of National Unity, noting that the two sides agreed at the end of the meeting to intensify meetings to achieve tangible successes in all areas of cooperation and construction with the Chinese National Association for Engineering Consultation.
