The activities of the EU-funded REBUILD winter school initiative concluded in Italy. The initiative focused on improving the quality of drinking water in five Libyan municipalities: "Al-Zawiya, Sabha, Bani Walid, Zintan, and Gharyan", through axes that included environmental protection of water, monitoring of water distribution networks, management of water resources data, and operation of water treatment plants.

The Director General of the Environmental Sanitation Affairs Department, Ibrahim bin Dakhil, stressed the Ministry's interest in strengthening partnerships with Italian parties to benefit from their expertise in raising the capacities of Libyan municipalities through networking and knowledge exchange.

The visit included several meetings between the Director General of the Environmental Sanitation Affairs Department and the Director General of the Trento Province, Marco Giovanni, with the aim of drafting an agreement between the two parties in the fields of water and environmental protection, as this cooperation is expected to contribute to strengthening joint efforts to preserve water and environmental resources, and exchange expertise and modern technologies between the two sides.

Bin Dakhil stressed that the success of the REBUILD project is an important step towards implementing future projects that enhance sustainable development goals, praising the continuous support of the Minister of Local Government to achieve goals that serve Libyan municipalities and raise the level of services provided to local communities.
