The Mayor of Al-Asabaa town, Emad Al-Maktouf, announced that the compensation committee formed by the Government of National Unity began its work last Wednesday. 

In statements to Fawasel news platform, Al-Maktouf said that the committee’s assessment experts have started fieldwork in coordination with the security authorities in the town. He confirmed that there have been no new fires, noting that all recent incidents were limited to the same initial houses, and there is no evidence of new fires aimed at securing compensation, contrary to circulating rumors. 

Al-Maktouf added that the causes of the fires remain unknown, but investigative teams are continuing their work without interference, while communication with the concerned parties is ongoing according to established protocols. 

In a related context, the Deputy Minister of Local Governance for Municipal Affairs, as head of the committee, confirmed that they have completed the assessment of 46 houses and are continuing the process. He said that the goal of these operations is to provide fair assistance to affected citizens and facilitate compensation procedures. 

The deputy minister called on residents to cooperate with the committee and provide all necessary information to ensure accurate assessment. He explained that a detailed assessment process is underway using specially prepared forms to document the extent of damage and its impact on residents. 

The Ministry of Local Governance indicated that the assessment includes evaluating structural damage to houses and their foundations through a thorough inspection of damaged walls and roofs to determine the extent of the destruction.
