Muhammed Menfi, Head of the Presidential Council (PC), has stressed the need for a broader dialogue to achieve elections, with all institutions emanating from the political agreement taking part.

In a series of posts on his X account, Menfi welcomed the Security Council's decision to renew the mandate of the UN mission in Libya and praised the relevant resolution for marking the Libyan Political Dialogue Roadmap as the governing reference for the current stage.

Past experiences have reinforced that reaching elections requires a broader dialogue, adherence to the deadlines specified in the roadmap, and respect for the opinions of the stakeholder community, as per the UN resolution, Menfi wrote on his X account.

He expressed his satisfaction with the local and international community's positive response to the formation of the Supreme Financial Committee, which "aims to enhance transparency, joint management of revenues, and advance the national reconciliation file."

This motivates us to move forward in the context of the roadmap adopted by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia in mid-November 2020, Menfi added.

On October 30, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. (2702), extending the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya for one year until October 31, 2024.

The resolution urged Libyan political institutions and key parties to resolve outstanding political contentious issues related to the elections as soon as possible.
