The Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, has discussed with the delegation of the Philippine Ministry of Labour and Expatriates, the conditions of Filipino workers in Libya, mechanisms for settling their conditions and paying their financial dues, and areas of cooperation between the two ministries.
The Philippine delegation included Deputy Minister of Labour for Employment Affairs, a number of ministry officials, and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Libya.
On the Libyan side, representatives of the Ministries of Oil and Gas, Health and Foreign Affairs, the National Oil Corporation, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and businessmen attended, according to the Ministry of Labour Facebook page.
The Philippine delegation visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Oil, where it met with the Director General of Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Oil and Gas, who praised the depth of relations between the two countries, noting the participation of Filipino workers in the oil industries in Libya since the 1970s.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Labour for Philippine Employment Affairs confirmed that their presence was to assess the situation, learn about Libya’s labour needs, and coordinate to conclude agreements in a way that facilitates labour entry procedures.
