US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, has underscored the critical importance of reaching an agreement on a roadmap to elections that all major parties in Libya will accept in order to achieve stability in the country.
In a statement posted by the US Embassy on its official "X" account, Norland emphasized that the United States is committed to actively supporting endeavours aimed at realizing this objective.
Following extensive discussions with Libyan leaders over a two-day period, Norland expressed his belief that there is a mutual recognition of the necessity to generate momentum for the UN-facilitated political process.
Additionally, he reaffirmed that Libya's progress would benefit from dialogues on the transparent and accountable allocation of oil revenues, the reinforcement of border security, and the safeguarding of Libya's sovereignty.
