The Government of National Unity (GNU) has reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Issa, met with Mohammed Rahal, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Palestinian Embassy in Libya.
A readout by the Foreign Ministry said the meeting underscored the GNU’s firm stance in backing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Issa emphasized Libya’s active role in international and regional platforms to bolster support for Palestine, particularly in the face of the genocide being carried out against Palestinians in Gaza by Israeli forces.
He assured that Libya, through the Presidential Council and the GNU, is fully committed to pursuing all available Arab, international, and legal avenues to halt the violence in Gaza and hold those responsible accountable. He highlighted Libya’s participation in the lawsuit filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice as part of these efforts.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian diplomat expressed deep appreciation for Libya’s steadfast support, both from the government and its people. He particularly lauded the political, material, and humanitarian assistance provided by Libya, with particular emphasis on the aid directed towards the Gaza Strip.
