Media sources reported Saturday that the trapped families inside Ganfouda district, Benghazi, have run out of food and water after they have lost the sources that used to provide them with their basic needs, adding that they are enduring terrible humanitarian conditions.
“The stranded persons in Ganfouda and 12 Buildings neighborhood as well as other areas that are besieged by Haftar’s forces couldn’t keep foods and water reserves for more than three days.” Social media activists reported, saying there are children and patients among the trapped people.
“Added to the constant bombardment by Haftar’s forces, the trapped patients, who are in bad health conditions, have to endure lack of medicines and healthcare.” They remarked.
In the meantime, Human Rights Solidarity (HRS) issued a statement calling for immediate interference in the situation in Ganfouda to help provide the trapped families with basic necessities and with a safe corridor out of there.
“We call on the Attorney General’s Office to order a probe into the crimes committed against civilians in Ganfouda by the armed forces of Dignity Operation. “ HRS indicated.
HRS also stressed that the crimes in Ganfouda are categorized as deliberate mass killings of civilians, who were targeted by airstrikes and shelling without any consideration to the rules and regulations of clashes that are outlined by international conventions, including the four Geneva Conventions and their protocols.
