The head of Benghazi’s Al-Naser Football Club, Al-Sharif Al-Wafi, announced his resignation from the club's board of directors.
Al-Wafi, a former GNC member, said in a press conference held in Benghazi last Tuesday, in the presence of members of the club's general assembly, that he entrusted Ezzeddin Al-Wakwak, a militia group leader, to head the club as his successor.
Al-Sharif Al-Wafi revealed in statements after the press conference that the main reason for his resignation was the treatment by his colleagues in the management of the club, whom he described as “political opponents”, preferring to resign because he believes that dealing with the matter is not in national interest.
A delegation of the club officials including Hatem Qatesh met with the Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj on Monday, who issued a decision to provide financial support of three million dinar to the club.
