A Libyan has been elected for the first time as Vice President of the Arab Athletics Federation.

Muhsen Al-Sbaey will take the position for a term starting in 2017 until 2021.

The meeting, which took place on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia, saw Musen AlSbaey overcome his contender Walid Atta, current president of the Egyptian Athletics Federation.

The Libyan team, which contended in the elections, consisted of Muhsen Al-Sbaey, the current president of the Libyan Athletics Federation, Waleed Mubarak, the Secretary-General and Habib Jawaan, the treasurer.
