The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax, Tunisia, confirmed its contribution to the management of the free zone in Ben Guerdane, which was established by the state in early 2024, and will organize transactions between economic actors in Tunisia and their counterparts in Libya and other economic actors in Africa.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax hosted a forum entitled "Export Financing Mechanisms to Libya", on Thursday evening, with the participation of representatives of more than 30 economic institutions affiliated with the chamber.
The Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax, Hisham Elloumi, said on the sidelines of the forum that it represented an opportunity to meet economic actors active in the south, especially the Sfax region, with executives of the Tunisian-Libyan Bank, with the aim of obtaining an idea about the prospects for exporting to Libya and the mechanisms available in this field, especially listening to the concerns of these economic actors regarding trade exchange towards Libyan territory and other African countries.
Elloumi pointed to the long-standing relations that link the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax with the chambers located in Africa, such as Libya and Algeria, due to geographical proximity, and in light of the global economic trend. The forum program included three topics: The first focused on discussing the current situation in Libya in relation to opening credits, the second on the financial settlement of exports, and the third was devoted to discussing the proposed topics.
