The head of the United Nations Support Mission (UNSMIL) in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, has stressed the need for Libya to heal the wounds of the past and move forward toward a peaceful future where all Libyans equitably benefit from the country's abundant resources.

This came during his meeting with a delegation of notables and activists from the southern region, during which he reiterated UNSMIL continued support for an inclusive national reconciliation process.

“I listened to their expectations around the national reconciliation process, and their aspirations for inclusive, free elections in which all Libyan people can choose their leaders”, Bathily tweeted.
