The media office of the Democratic Party announced that the party's Deputy Head for international relations and member of the High Council of State, Nizar Kawan, was subjected to what it described as "an assassination attempt" in Tripoli.
According to the statement, the incident occurred while Kawan was leaving the session of the High Council of State on Tuesday.
The party's statement said that the security personnel were able to seize one of the attackers' cars and handed it over to the Attorney General to investigate the incident.
