United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo has praised the efforts of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) in the finalized stages of the municipal council elections, stressing the commitment of donor countries to strengthening the democratic process in Libya until the completion of upcoming electoral entitlements.
DiCarlo met with the Chairman of HNEC’s Board, Imad Al-Sayeh, on Tuesday at the HNEC’s headquarters in Tripoli, in the presence of the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Koury, according to a statement by HNEC on its Facebook page.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the electoral process and ways for the international community to support HNEC through support by expertise in the field of election management and implementation.
