The Former Defense Minister Mohamed Al-Barghathi has stated that the reason for inviting the Chiefs of General Staff, Mohamed Al-Haddad and Abdel-Razzaq Al-Nadhouri, to participate in a conference of the US Military Command in Africa (AFRICOM) is Washington’s efforts to establish a joint military force stationed in the Libyan, Algerian and Nigerian border area.
Al-Barghathi indicated in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on Saturday that the United States believes that the Russians may form a military force in coordination with Khalifa Haftar’s forces stationed in the same very important border region, and thus they are trying to attract these forces to participate with them.
The former Minister of Defense pointed out that the Joint Military Commission 5+5 was affected by the tensions of political forces and the government’s struggle for power.
