The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, agreed to make amendments to the High Financial Oversight Committee to ensure the performance of its duties and regulate government spending.

The agreement came during a meeting on Sunday at the headquarters of the High Council of State in Tripoli to discuss a number of political and economic files, including municipal, legislative and presidential elections, the economic reform process, and support for international efforts in this regard.

The media office of the Prime Minister said that the meeting saw an agreement on the necessity of implementing the necessary national economic reforms to improve the conditions of citizens, and for the government to continue providing social protection programs, focusing on development projects and completing ongoing projects, in addition to providing the necessary allocations for them according to approved schedules.

The media office added that the attendees stressed support for the efforts of the Ministry of Local Government in transferring competencies to municipalities to eliminate centralization, and to provide them with the necessary support to activate local development projects. They stressed the need to support the High Financial Oversight Committee to regulate government spending, make the necessary amendments to it to ensure the performance of its tasks, and direct it to increase disclosure and transparency of all government expenditures.

Menfi, Dbeibah and Takala also called for the necessity of implementing the court rulings issued regarding the removal of the fee imposed on foreign exchange sales, and focusing on addressing the cash crisis to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

The media office of the Prime Minister said that the meeting also emphasized support for local efforts to make the municipal elections successful, and increased cooperation and coordination with the High Electoral Commission to ensure that its work is completed in positive conditions. It also discussed support for international efforts to conduct parliamentary and presidential elections in accordance with fair and agreed-upon laws.
