The French embassy in Libya said in a statement on Wednesday, that the recent events in Zawiya confirm the need to unite the security and military institutions.
"France is following with concern the situation in Zawiya, where the civilians risk exposure to violence resulting from the clashes," the French embassy tweeted.
The statement added: “France calls on the Libyan authorities to prevent any escalation and reminds them of their responsibility to ensure the safety of the civilians”.
