The Department of Monitoring and Rapid Response of the National Centre for Disease Control said Sunday that it had recorded several cases of measles in Qatroun town, south of Libya.

In a statement, the Centre called on monitoring supervisors in the southern region to address school headmasters, local information officials, mosque preachers and healthcare managers to aware people of the disease and to guide them to the correct procedures if infected.

The Centre clarified that it would launch an urgent vaccination campaign in Qatroun, pointing out that any person who suffers a rash and a high fever should be isolated and suspended from school. It also urged citizens to take measles vaccine and vitamin A.
