The Municipal Council of Salouk town west of Benghazi declared the town "a disaster area" after the closure of some major streets in the town, due to the deterioration of infrastructure, which it said, has worsened even further after the recent heavy rains.

In the same context, the local authorities in Marj, Misurata, Sabratha, and Ajdabiya suspended classes on Sunday and Monday because of the continued heavy rains and cold weather.

Many parts of the country have experienced torrential rain, causing the closure of many streets and bringing traffic to a standstill.
