The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, has discussed with the members of the Board of Directors, directors and heads of the HNEC’s technical departments, and UN mission experts the executive regulations for electing municipal councils in preparation for their implementation early next year.
In a meeting, the attendees reviewed the details of the regulations related to voter registration, with the aim of raising the percentage of participants in these elections, and strengthen recognized international standards and principles in implementing the process of electing municipal councils.
The meeting also discussed the technical observations of the competent departments regarding the timetables for the elections and work on developing the necessary executive plans to resume the election of municipal councils in accordance with the regulations after their approval in their final form.
