The Ministry of Interior has called on the European Union to urgently support the Libyan state to secure its southern borders and to support the anti-illegal immigration agencies.

This came at a meeting of the technical team assigned by the European Court of Auditors responsible for auditing the accounts of the European Union Emergency Fund for Africa.

The Libyan side participating in the meeting stressed the need to address the situation of illegal immigrants in the country by returning them to their countries of origin.

The meeting, which was attended by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, also discussed the status of European Union-funded projects in Libya and a review of joint work between the two sides, according to the Ministry of Interior.
