Libya is facing growing challenges in tackling drug trafficking across its borders, with significant implications for security and public health, according to the country’s Anti-Narcotics Agency chief, Major General Khaled Al-Mabrouk.

At a meeting with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) officials in Cairo, Al-Mabrouk called for enhanced international cooperation to combat smuggling networks.

Discussions focused on strengthening Libya’s anti-narcotics strategy, including legal reforms, tighter border security, and improved drug prevention and rehabilitation programs.

UNODC regional representative Cristina Albertin reaffirmed the agency’s support, praising Libya’s efforts and cooperation in addressing the issue.
