Minister of Interior Emad Trabelsi and his Tunisian counterpart, Kamal al-Feki, have called for a joint policy to combat immigration and illegal infiltration across their countries' borders.

The Tunisian Ministry of Interior said the two ministers agreed, during a telephone conversation, to combat illegal immigration within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as it is a cross-border issue that affects all countries.

It is noteworthy that the Tunisian authorities had transferred hundreds of African migrants to a remote desert area near the Libyan border in a process described by human rights organizations as a "collective expulsion" of the migrants.
