The Director General of the Office of Recovering Libyan State Assets and Their Management, Mohammed Al-Mansali, has discussed with the Canadian ambassador to Libya, Isabelle Savard, on Wednesday the Libyan assets in Canada and the strategy for recovering and managing them for the benefit of the Libyan people.
The Office said in a statement that the meeting was held in Tunisia and it was the second in recent weeks, as Al-Mansali expressed his gratitude to the ambassador and the Canadian authorities for their cooperation and continuous support for the Office's efforts.
The former Libyan ambassador to Canada, Fathi Al-Baja, told the Canadian newspaper "The Globe and Mail" that Muammar Gaddafi had hid billions of dollars in Canadian banks. He revealed that after his expulsion from his post in Ottawa, he kept confidential documents containing details of the financial accounts and monetary wealth that Gaddafi hid.
