The Presidential Council condemned Saturday the extrajudicial execution of 10 unidentified persons in Benghazi by what it described as “a figure who claims to be part of the army”, without mentioning his name.

In a statement, the Council described the execution as “irresponsible act” and “a flagrant violation of civil and military legislation,” insisting that the state system is the only one authorized to prosecute and punish criminals.

The Council added that it had followed with great concern reports of similar executions of three youths in the city of Derna, expressing its strong condemnation of such acts.

"We call on everyone to cooperate with the security services in order to bring the perpetrators of crimes to justice and punish them within the law," the statement read.
