The director of the border crossing of Ras Ajdair with Tunisia, Abdelsalam Al-Omrani, denied holding meetings with the Tunisians to reopen the border that has been for weeks closed as per orders by the Interior Ministry.
Al-Omrani told reporters on Tuesday that closing the border is due to customs and security issues that need to be resolved by the governments not the border authorities, adding that the border’s committees should be involved in the meetings as they better know the conditions in there.
“Those who are discussing the issues of the border’s closure now have nothing to do with it and know nothing about its daily problems on security and customs levels." He indicated.
