Russian President, Vladimir Putin have discussed by phone with Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, ways to reach a peaceful settlement to the Libyan crisis.

The two sides expressed support for the efforts of the international community to achieve a political settlement mediated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), according to a statement by the Kremlin.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced two days ago that it had reached an agreement with its Italian counterpart on the need to develop dialogue between the Libyans and make efforts to keep pace with the Libyan peace process, taking into account the interests of neighbouring and regional countries.
