The Head of Ambulance & Emergency Services in the city of Kufra, Ibrahim Belhassan, announced on Friday evening that ten people had been found in the city’s desert after going astray 8 days ago.

Belhassan explained, in a statement to the Libyan News Agency, that a Sudanese family including women and children were found, as well as two young Libyans; a driver and his assistant.

He pointed out that the rescue operation took place after an extensive search operation, in which volunteers and a number of members of a security battalion charged with securing the southern regions participated.

The missing persons were found in a state of severe dehydration and psychological trauma. The ambulance service provided them with first aid and transferred them to Al-Kufra Hospital, to undergo necessary medical examinations
