The United Nations Support Mission in Libya has called on Libyan authorities to arrest Osama Najim, Director of the Judicial Security Service and former official in charge of Mitiga Prison affiliated with the Deterrence Force, who is accused of violating human rights.

In a statement on Saturday, UNSMIL expressed its concern about the seriousness of the crimes included in the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Najim.

The mission said, "Given the accused's return to Libya, we call on the Libyan authorities to arrest him and begin investigating these crimes with the aim of ensuring full accountability, or hand him over to the International Criminal Court".
