A World Bank (WB) report has confirmed that oil companies continue to flaring natural gas associated with oil extraction in several countries, including Libya.

The report added that oil companies around the world flared the largest amount of natural gas associated with oil production last year during the past five years.

It also indicated that companies flared an estimated 148 billion cubic meters of gas in 2023, an estimated increase of 7% over 2022, despite the rise in crude oil production by only 1% during the aforementioned period.
