The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, has stressed the need for the reconstruction of areas affected by floods to be under Libyan ownership and leadership.

Menfi called, during his meeting with the representative of the World Bank in Libya, on the World Bank to provide technical support for the reconstruction plans for the flood-affected areas. He stressed that technical support is through preparing studies and statistics as well as assessing the extent of the damage that occurred following the floods.

The two sides discussed the issue of reconstruction of Derna and the rest of the affected areas, and how to benefit from previous World Bank experiences regarding reconstruction. They also stressed the necessity of a comprehensive survey of the damages in the affected areas, in addition to the role assigned to the Presidential Council in making the reconstruction plans successful, in addition to paying attention to the governance and transparency of spending in this file.
