Mayor of Zuwara Hafez bin Sassi issued a decree to adopt the Amazigh calendar in all government departments, public and private institutions and facilities operating within the municipality.

Amazigh language has been officially included in the curriculum of the city schools since 2012, pursuant to the act issued by the General National Congress, which guarantees the Libyan cultural minorities their linguistic rights.

In March, Mayor of Zuwara issued a decree requiring the writing of signage and advertising within the municipality in the Amazigh language, with authorizing the use of other languages as well.
