The member and former Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Abdulrahman Al-Sweihli said Khalifa Haftar, House of Representatives’ (HoR) Speaker Aqila Saleh and Prime Minister-designate Fathi Bashagha are responsible for the shutdown of oil and blockade on oil exports.

Al-Sweihli said Monday on Facebook, after shutdown of oil production and exports in almost all of oil regions in Libya since Saturday, that the “power-crazy” Bashagha and his allies Haftar and Aqila as well as the intelligence agency of a neighboring country are responsible for the escalation and for messing with the source of revenue of all Libyans, adding that they did this after their previous plan had failed.

“They failed in their sham election laws for December 24, 2021 vote and now they are trying to hinder holding elections, but the will of the people will triumph. Those individuals will be the ones who made Libyans suffer the most over the last years.” He said.

Al-Sweihli added that national civilian parties said last February that Bashagha's government wouldn't be allowed to enter Tripoli as it enables Haftar to come to the capital easily after he failed to enter with force on April 04. He added that this stance will always be the same.
