Forces loyal to Khalifa Haftar attacked the house of one of Benghazi Security Department’s personnel in the city on Tuesday and killed his brother after shooting at the house while the residents were inside.

According to the pro-Haftar forces, the police officer Captain, Khamis Al-Shalwi, whose house was attacked and who is currently jailed in Al-Kwifiya prison, killed one of the Special Forces’ personnel of Khalifa Haftar’s Dignity Operation in Leethi district, Benghazi.

The Benghazi Security Department condemned attacking the Captain’s house using light and medium weapons careless of the residents of the house – women and kids – and terrifying the whole neighborhood.

“The attack on the Captain’s house is not acceptable as there were women and kids and as it led to the killing of Al-Shalwi’s brother, who also works for the security dept. in Benghazi.” The Benghazi Security Department said in a statement.

It added that the pro-Haftar forces who attacked the house prevented the ambulances from rescuing the family members of Al-Shalwi from inside the house, pointing out that its patrols avoided going to the scene to stay away from causing any more bloodshed.

“We urge all authorities to take the legal measures necessary to bring down the perpetrators and make an example of them to deter any attempts to violate Libya’s security.” The statement concludes.
