The Chairman of the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council, Salama Al-Ghuwail, signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Chairman of the Tunisian Competition Council, Hassan Al-Qizani, to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of competition and consumer protection, as well as preventing monopolistic practices.
The memorandum aims to exchange knowledge, expertise and information between the two parties and enhance joint efforts to ensure a fair and competitive economic environment. It also includes cooperation in exchanging studies and research related to competition protection and information on applicable laws and regulations, cooperation in analyzing anti-competitive cross-border practices, and organizing specialized training programs and workshops, according to a statement by the Competition Council on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
The memorandum stipulates that the two parties exchange technical and legal experts to develop capabilities, support the building of national cadres, exchange information on ongoing investigations, provide technical support in regional and international issues, and enhance legislation in line with international standards.
Al-Ghuwail explained that this memorandum comes within the framework of efforts aimed at exchanging knowledge and expertise between the two sides, and enhancing joint work to ensure a fair and transparent economic environment that encourages competition and prevents monopoly, which contributes to creating equal opportunities for all economic parties.
He stressed the importance of this agreement in supporting economic integration between the two countries, through exchanging experiences, developing regulatory policies and enhancing market control mechanisms, stressing the importance of combating practices that harm competition, especially those that cross borders, with the aim of achieving a balanced economic environment that ensures consumer protection and enhances investments.
