The Derna security directorate issued a warning to citizens on Tuesday that the region would be exposed to a wave of weather fluctuations early next week, starting from September 8, and called on them to be cautious.
The directorate, in a warning published on its Facebook page, called on all residents of areas near dams and valleys, as well as in low-lying areas and valley edges, to be cautious due to the fluctuating weather conditions. It also called on all citizens, as well as construction companies operating in the city of Derna, to stay away from valleys and dams, in anticipation of any emergency, in addition to following up with the Security Media Office in the directorate to know any developments in this regard.
The directorate urged everyone to take matters very seriously, not to ignore or neglect the warnings, and to follow the instructions and guidelines of the security and service agencies in the city in order to preserve their safety.
The expected wave of weather fluctuations coincides with the first anniversary of the devastating flood disaster that swept the city of Derna and Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar region on September 11 2023, which claimed the lives of more than 4.000 people and left thousands missing, in addition to displacing hundreds of families and causing damage to the city.
