The High National Election Commission (HNEC) has partially stopped working by resolution (55) of 2014 that adopted the results of the Founding Commission of the Constitution Drafting Assembly, especially the result of Ali Al-Tarhouni who won the position for the CDA in Benghazi.

The decision, though temporary, will take effect until the court reviews the case filed against Al-Tarhouni, who is demanded to leave post.

Previously, Al-Bayda Appeals Court, the administrative judiciary department, delivered a verdict to stop the Head of the CDA, Ali Al-Tarhouni, from work as a suitcase was filed against him for being the head of the CDA while having a double citizenship, an American one and the Libyan one, which makes the latter invalid according to the Libyan citizenship law.
