Israeli "Channel 7" published a proposal to resettle the residents of the Gaza Strip in Libya, considering it a possible solution to many of the security and geopolitical challenges facing the occupying state and the region.
The Israel News National website believed that Libya may be the most suitable option for this, given its vast area and low population density, in addition to its political division into semi-independent entities.
The report indicated that these entities, especially those controlled by Haftar, may be interested in receiving new residents capable of integration, in addition to investments that will help develop the infrastructure and the local economy.
The report believed that Haftar, who controlled most of the Libyan territories, needs residents to develop the infrastructure and provide labor, while the Tripoli government needs to strengthen its legitimacy. It suggested that the United States influence the Libyan parties by offering incentives or imposing pressure, as those who agree to receive the Palestinians can be rewarded with funding and political support, while opponents may be punished economically, diplomatically and militarily.
The report also considered that integration in Libya is easier for the Palestinians compared to other countries, due to religious, cultural and linguistic similarities, noting that transferring the population of Gaza to Libya will not pose a threat to Israel nor destabilize Jordan or Egypt.
The report stressed that implementing this project in Libya will achieve great geopolitical gains for Israel and the West, explaining that if any party in Libya becomes a partner to the United States in implementing the project, especially Haftar, this will enhance Washington's influence in North Africa and help contain the expansion of the influence of countries such as China, Russia and Turkey.
This proposal will also benefit the European Union by having a friendly state in the Maghreb region, a stable energy source, and reducing the flow of migrants, according to the website.
The Israeli report concluded by stressing that cooperation with Haftar is the best solution to achieve these goals.
