The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed, discussed with the Bangladeshi ambassador to Libya, Abul Hasanat Muhammad Khair Al-Bashar, ways to strengthen cooperation in regulating Bangladeshi workers' status in Libya, alongside efforts to combat illegal immigration.

The two sides discussed mechanisms for regulating the entry of workers in accordance with Libyan laws, with a focus on streamlining recruitment procedures and providing a work environment that meets legal standards, ensuring the rights of foreign workers and improving the performance of the Libyan labor market.

They also addressed the issue of illegal immigration, stressing the need to strengthen cooperation to address the situation of unregistered workers by incorporating them into the “Wafid” digital platform. This platform is designed to regulate foreign labor and promote transparency in employment.

Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi ambassador denied the accuracy of information published by a media outlet, which claimed that Bangladeshi workers were exploiting their legal entry into Libya to immigrate to Europe. He clarified that workers entering Libya through official channels do not engage in illegal immigration, emphasizing that victims of human trafficking are those attempting to cross into Europe unlawfully.
