President Muhammed Menfi of the Presidential Council on Sunday discussed with the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, the UN mission's efforts to engage all Libyan parties in the path to elections.
Bathily briefed Menfi on his work to engage Libyan stakeholders in facilitating a political agreement on the path to elections based on the 6 + 6 Committee outputs, as well as the results of the 5 + 5 Military Committee meeting held in Benghazi last week, with the participation of representatives of the Security Track Committee of the Berlin Conference, a readout by the PC media office said.
The UN envoy lauded Menfi for his opening statement at the Russia-Africa summit, which he said addressed national issues crucial to achieving stability in Libya and leading towards the aspirations of the Libyan people for comprehensive national reconciliation, general elections, sustainable development, safeguarding national unity, and ensuring the independence of will and national decision.
For his part, Menfi affirmed that the PC would continue its role through all international and regional platforms to ensure the people's continued demands for elections are met.
