Norland: Stability in Fezzan is crucial to reconciliation in Libya
US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland emphasized that stability in Fezzan region is crucial to national reconciliation.
Norland's comments came during his meeting with representatives from the Tebu tribe and Ahaali from Murzuq city, according to a statement by the US Embassy in Libya.
The US ambassador congratulated them on their dialogue initiative established under the auspices of the National Network of Mediators, which provides for launching a peace process to solve displacement crises in Libya.
"After years of conflict, such local mediation initiatives are needed to support lasting peace in Libya," ambassador Norland said.
He added that the agreement of the Tebu and Ahaali on this initiative is an example of how to make dialogue and reconciliation succeed for the betterment of all.
