Khaled Shakshak, President of the Audit Bureau, has urged the British government to support joint agreements between the Bureau and international auditing firms in the UK to ensure their implementation, as per a Facebook post by the Audit Bureau on Monday.

During a meeting with the British ambassador in Tripoli on Sunday, Shakshak discussed the role of the Bureau and regulatory bodies in promoting transparency and disclosure based on their findings.

The meeting also explored how to leverage international and regional regulatory organizations to exchange expertise and improve the Audit Bureau's operations according to top global standards and practices.

The Audit Bureau highlighted the importance of the agreements with UK-based audit firms, which involve reviewing files and external operations requiring high competence and specialization, and training bureau staff. Shakshak stressed the need for support to overcome obstacles to these agreements.

In January, Shakshak signed an agreement with the British auditing firm BDO to enhance cooperation in auditing and forensic accounting as part of the Audit Bureau's strategy to continue collaborating with major auditing firms.

The Bureau aims to bolster its activities related to monitoring and evaluating Libyan investments and assets abroad, improving their performance, and taking necessary measures to protect them from erosion and loss.
