The Ministry of the Interior said that the sounds of gunfire heard in Al-Siyaheya area in the capital, Tripoli, were those of clashes between security forces and an armed group that was present at the headquarters of a company in the area.
The Interior Ministry explained in a statement that one of its joint forces, based on the Minister’s instructions, went to the headquarters of the “Hay Al-Nasr” Investment Company to drive out the armed group that was controlling the site. It added that the actions were based on the instructions of the Attorney General’s Office.
The Ministry indicated that the armed group opened fire upon the arrival of the joint security force, but the situation was controlled and the gunmen were removed from the site, as all legal measures were taken afterwards regarding the incident.
