The Turkish ambassador to Libya, Kenan Yilamz, arrived in Benghazi, eastern Libya, on Saturday and met a number of members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and municipal officials, saying that his country's military presence in Libya is legitimate and based on an MoU to provide advice and training to Libyan cadres all across the country and added that if there is a need, Ankara will expand its presence and training programs in Libya.
Yilmaz said his country aims to open consulate in Benghazi once conditions permit, in addition to sending a Turkish Airlines technical team to assess Benina Airport to resume flights if the evaluation was positive.
In last December, an HoR delegation visited Ankara and discussed opening consulate in Benghazi and easing visa requirements for Libyans wishing to travel to Turkey.
Yilmaz also said he had met with Libyan businesspeople and discussed resuming suspended projects and opening new ones.
