The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) issued a decision extending the time period for the voter registration phase for the municipal council elections (first group) to July 7.

The Board of the HNEC explained that on June 9, it announced the launching of the process of registering voters for the municipal council elections (first group). This process witnessed an increasing turnout from the citizens of those municipalities, and registration rates achieved positive indicators throughout the period, which prompted many citizens and civil society organizations in those municipalities to demand an extension of the time period for this process, which was set to end on June 23.

The HNEC indicated that the Help Center and the call number (1441) will also remain operational throughout the period allocated for implementing this process, and it will work to receive inquiries from citizens regarding the various stages of this process.

The HNEC called on various state institutions to support this entitlement, which establishes the state of law and institutions as the best and shortest path to achieving security, development and stability.
