The UN Advisor on Libya met with the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, and  briefed him on the upcoming, final round of the High Council of State (HCS) and House of Representatives’ (HoR) Committee talks due to begin in Cairo on June 12.

Williams said on Twitter on Thursday that the talks in Cairo would aim to establish the constitutional framework needed to take the country to comprehensive national elections as soon as possible.

“During our meeting, Al-Sayeh expressed HNEC's readiness to support the product of the Cairo negotiations, and briefed me on the current steps HNEC is taking to ensure their preparedness in support to the process.” She added. 

Earlier, Williams met with the Head of the HCS Khalid Al-Mishri and discussed plans for the upcoming, final round of the Joint HCS/HoR Committee talks in Cairo on June 12.
