The workers of the Libyan Ground Handling Company at Mitiga airport, Tripoli, organized a sit-in Wednesday demanding their financial dues and the implementation of the decision made by the Holding Company, which urges for including the company’s workers in the Afirqiyah and Libyan airliners.
The head of the documentation and information unit at the company, Suhaib Al-Firjani, clarified that the sit-in of the workers was triggered by 12-month delay of salary payments as well as failure to include the workers in the two airlines companies, Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways.
“Misrata airport is still shut and flights are suspended due to the strike organized by the workers of the Libyan Ground Handling Company.” He added.
He also said that the workers’ sit-in at Mitiga airport will be done in the same manner at all Libyan airports, however; the flights taking off and landing in the Mitiga airport will resume as usual.
Flights to and from Mitiga airport were suspend as well back on July 20 over a strike organized by the inspection workers because of an organizational malfunction related to the airport security unit.
